Biography

By the time Dr. Frank G. Baloh entered medical school at Pennsylvania State University’s Milton S. Hershey School of Medicine, he had already earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in the university’s undergraduate program. After completing med school, he interned at the University of Pennsylvania, completed his residency in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia, and pursued a subspecialty fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Baloh’s professional experience includes three years in his own private practice in Pittsburgh, and more than two decades at Lehigh Valley Eye Center in Allentown, before its acquisition by OCLI. Although he specializes in reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, Dr. Baloh is also trained in pathology of the eye. He treats thyroid disease, various cancers, tear drainage, and eyelid abnormalities.

In addition, Dr. Baloh has participated in numerous research projects and presentations, and has co-published manuscripts, including “Velocities of Vertical Saccades with Different Eye Movement Recording Methods” for Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, with R.D. Yee, V.L. Schiller, and V. Lim; “Confrontation Visual Field Test Comparison with Automated Perimetry” for the Proceedings of the Eighth Perimetric Society Meeting, with L.N. Johnson; and Repair of Canalicular Lacerations with Silicone Intubation in the Manual of Oculoplastic Surgery, with R.M. Dryden, edited by Mark L. Levine, MD.
